In science classes we were taught that literally everything is made of energy. Energy vibrates and produces frequencies and this in turn affects us, in either a positive or negative way, depending on the frequency. Even our thoughts, words and emotions are energy, and these have a great impact on our lives – affecting our emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
As a sound healer and vibrational sound practioner, I use the term “raise your vibe” a LOT! But what does this really mean, how does one do it and why should I? First of all, let’s touch on the why. If you like feeling good (physically, emotionally and mentally) you need to always work on raising your vibe. If you want to attract good things and people into your life, raise your vibe. If you want to improve your immune system or reduce pain and inflammation, raise your vibe.
What is “raising your vibe?” The law of attraction basically tells us that we attract (entice, draw in and gravitate towards us) the same types of things that match our vibrational frequency. So, if you want those things I mentioned above, you need to work on being more positive with your thoughts, words and actions which will then attract more positive opportunities, situations, and things (including people) into your life. Notice how “attract” keeps popping up here? You are like a magnet, drawing in whatever you put out in the Universe. Focus on what you want and need – not on what you don’t have.
What things can you do to raise your vibe? The number one go-to is to show gratitude and be grateful. Remember not to focus on what you don’t have but rather be thankful for what you DO have. It can be as simple as thanking God, the Creator, Universe (whatever and whoever you believe in) for a beautiful sunrise or sunset, the smell of flowers or the Earth right after a gentle & cleansing rain. It can be the sound of a gentle breeze caressing wind chimes or your favorite songbird – even waves gently rolling in and out. It can also be the feel of sand underneath your feet and the warmth of the sun radiating down on and through you. And it can be the taste of your favorite food (which creates a happy dance in me). It can also be thanking someone for serving you the meal you ordered, having food on your table, and blessing the food and/or people who grew and cooked it. In addition, it can be finding a $20 bill when you so desperately needed it for something such as gas. The possibilities are endless and everywhere in our lives. And while this seems like such a simple thing to do, we often take things for granted or forget to do so. But did you know that research has been done on gratitude and they have proven that simply by expressing gratitude you can reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. Don’t underestimate this magical power you have within you. Use it and watch your life change!

There are other things that can help you to raise your vibe. These next two things go hand in hand with not only each other but also with gratitude, in my opinion. To raise your vibe, you can also surround yourself with positive people and environments AND let go of negative thoughts and feelings. If you think back to the law of attraction, this should be a no brainer. If you want good and positive things to happen, why would you hang out or work with anyone less than that higher vibration? People who vibe at a lower frequency will either learn naturally from you and want to become and experience more of the good they see and feel around you or they’ll choose to stay where they are. When I was young, we used to say, “Don’t let the turkeys drag you down.” It’s their choice. If you choose to stay around them or that environment you will start to notice how it makes you feel – physically, emotionally and spiritually. I know this from experience. You cannot carry the burden of others and some people feed off telling everyone how bad things are. Again, it’s their choice to either level up, stay the same or level down.
The same goes for letting go of negative thoughts and feelings. This goes for things you say/think to and about others, what they say to you as well as what you say to and think about yourself. Low vibing people get a thrill at putting others down – including those “just kidding” and snarky comments. It feeds their low frequency and seems to make them feel better. High vibing people want everyone to realize that we all have potential of greatness and are entitled to good things and have great things happen. I’m not any better than you, nor are you any better than me. We are one in the same – all connected and related. We ARE one. I celebrate when you win. I’m happy for you. That’s a high vibe. As for the law of attraction again, be careful of the words and things you say about yourself. Saying things to yourself such as “That was dumb (or stupid)” do not work in your favor. We all make mistakes. While you’re learning to forgive others, learn to forgive yourself. Those words of gratitude you may say to another person? Try them on yourself. You are uniquely you, there is no one else exactly like you. Spread kindness to yourself.

Other things that can help you raise those good vibrations include such things as mindfulness (more on that in a bit), participating in some type of physical activity such as dance (even around the house while doing chores), swimming, walking in nature, riding a bike, playing a favorite sport, and the list goes on and on. Endorphins are created when you partake in physical activity. And endorphins are a natural mood enhancer and pain reliever. And what about mindfulness? This means to stay present in the moment. That can be challenging as we focus on things coming up in our daily, weekly and monthly schedules – both at work and in our private lives. How can you work on this? Things like yoga, deep breathing, meditations and sound baths can help with this. They help you to relax, reduce your stress and again, help your overall wellness.
Raising your vibration can positively affect your overall well-being, including improved physical health, better relationships and interactions with others, and the attraction of more positive experiences and opportunities in your life. By practicing gratitude, and mindfulness, engaging in physical activity, surrounding yourself with positive people and environments, and letting go of negative thoughts and emotions, you can raise your vibrational frequency and improve your overall well-being.

So, what is there not to love about raising your vibe? If you seek a sense of feeling overall better, want to improve your immune system and/or the Universe, if you want positive outcomes and situations, raise those vibes. The power is within you and whatever you put out in the Universe comes back to you. I leave you with the words of the Beach Boys – and wish you “Good Vibrations.”
